In view of the recent social incidents started in June 2019, the Assessment Panel of the Public Policy Research (PPR) Funding Scheme believes that the research community could contribute to identifying the underlying causes and recommending solutions to address the deep-seated problems of Hong Kong society through conducting evidence-based policy research. The Assessment Panel has therefore decided to launch a special round of funding applications under the PPR Funding Scheme to support research studies on topics relating to the underlying causes of the recent social incidents, as well as important political, economic, cultural and societal issues relating to the deep-seated problems of society.
For the purpose of this special round of the PPR Funding Scheme, the Assessment Panel has identified a list of possible research topics, which can be found in the link 'List of Possible Research Topics’ below. A sum of up to $500,000 for a period of up to six months may be granted to each approved project under the special round. The deadline for submitting applications for the special round of the PPR Funding Scheme has been extended from 29 November to 13 December.
